Cylance is seeking a Principal Consultant to fill the most senior consultant role, located onsite at our client location in the Plano, TX area. Relocation assistance to the area is available. This position will be responsible for consistent, technically sound delivery of high quality projects while adhering to a formal methodology. Principal Consultants must have solid project management capabilities to lead, mentor and be experts in leading and managing consultant teams. They exercise wisdom, excel at communication and setting expectations, and are able to lead small teams through short and long-term engagements.


The Principal Consultant will lead teams and be an expert penetration tester capable of performing complex security assessments while maintaining a business focus and meeting client requirements. The successful candidate must be an expert in network security and penetration testing.




  • Maintain positive client relationships and feedback

  • Explain findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrate passion for exploitation, customer service, and mentoring

  • Serve as technical lead on all projects sold and delivered

  • Assist in updating methodologies for the team

  • Maintain high technical competency on all engagements providing noticeable quality and technical expertise

  • Assist the Consulting Director and Managing Directors as needed with scoping and strategic goals

  • Mentor junior consultants in their practice areas

  • Work to establish Cylance as a trusted advisor, maintaining strong customer relationships and providing extra value

  • Adhere to a consulting process based on established methodologies

  • Provide oversight of projects delegated to team members to ensure consistent delivery and client satisfaction

  • Create supporting tools, templates or processes to support the team

  • Be local, or willing to relocate to Plano, TX (relocation assistance available)

  • Maintain a sense of humility, persistence, creativity and determination in order to find gold




  • Strong attention to detail and technical writing skills required

  • 5 years technical experience in your area of expertise

  • Minimum 3 years’ consulting experience preferred

  • Experience in project scoping and estimating

  • Demonstrated ability to review reports, plan projects, manage consultants, understand project prerequisite requirements prior to kickoff and properly communicate them with clients

  • Knowledge in the following:

    • Internal / External / Wireless - Penetration Testing (3+ years REQUIRED)

    • Hardware / Device Testing

    • Network security concepts and best practices

    • Interpreted languages (Ruby, Python, PHP, etc.)

    • Compiled languages (Java, C, C++, Assembly, etc.)

    • Web-based application security concepts and penetration testing

    • IEEE 802.11 security concepts

    • Network security concepts

    • Social engineering techniques and tactics

    • Windows/Linux/UNIX/OSX internals

    • Common Security best practices

    • Common regulatory structures and obligations

    • Common I.T. governance guidance

    • Flexible and adaptable self-starter with strong relationship-building skills

    • Must have a passion for your work and an ability to apply that passion to both daily tasks and larger projects

    • Collaborative and team-oriented attitude

    • Effective problem-solving capabilities

    • Takes initiative and approaches all tasks and projects proactively

    • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision

    • Intellectual curiosity, humility, accountability and positive approach

    • Requires the ability to work independently with substantial latitude for action and decision while maintaining focus on achieving optimal outcomes as part of a collaborative development effort




  • 10+ years in information security and penetration testing with at least 5 years in customer facing roles

  • Proven community contributions through conference presentations, publications, media interviews, tool development, research, etc.

  • 4 year college degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

  • 3+ years management experience with small teams

  • One or more of the following certifications (or similar): GPEN, OSCP, C|EH, CISSP, CPT, eCPPT, CISA, etc.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, CIS, Information Security, or related field
