Country Manager - Peru at Mapbox
Mapbox was born in Ayacucho, Peru when our founders identified a need for better information access and data visualization tools in the developing world. Now we’re powering the maps for companies like Snapchat, Foursquare, Github, Instacart, MapQuest, and The Weather Channel. Our platform lets satellite companies deliver cloud-free imagery, news services visualize complex data, and weather companies highlight weather patterns — even as our tools continue to support development and humanitarian response across the globe. We’re creating the building blocks that change how people move around cities and understand our planet.
Maintaining a connection to our roots, Mapbox has an office of 11 professional mappers in Ayacucho, Peru who support our mapping and data improvement efforts. As leading mappers in Latin America, this team adds hundreds of thousands of features to the map every year, represents Mapbox at local and regional events, gives back to the local community, and has even taught the President of Peru how to map!
As our data operation grows, we’re hiring a dedicated Country Manager to lead all operational aspects of Mapbox's Ayacucho presence.
What you'll do:
Manage the challenging day-to-day logistics of running an office in a remote international location. Own all local operational decisions with support from our people, finance, and legal teams.
Support and mentor our local Data Team manager as he manages the Ayacucho-based team and coordinates mapping tasks with our global data operation.
Lead all corporate governance, finance, HR and compliance for the Peruvian legal entity.
Share strategic business context across Peru and U.S. Help guide decisions around office growth and positioning.
Oversee the path to English language proficiency and other relevant professional training for our Ayacucho-based team.
Support Mapbox’s communications with, and investment in, the Ayacucho, Peru, and Latin America communities.
Build the systems to support long-term maintenance of each of the above functions.

5-10 years of professional experience building teams, developing projects on the ground and/or working internationally.
