Planet's Product Owners are experts in remote sensing, geospatial technologies, and imagery analysis. They are able to understand how Planet should develop products to address needs of users of satellite remote sensing imagery. The TPO - Imagery and API will be responsible for the overall quality, specifications, and delivery mechanisms of Planet Imagery. The Product Owner will have expertise in remote sensing technologies and tools and be able to translate customer needs into engineering requirements, as well as turn engineering research and development work into customer value. The TPM role is a very technical role and the successful candidate will interface with and synchronize the efforts of many engineering teams to achieve product delivery.
Data quality guru - the successful candidate will be a champion for Planet’s imagery quality and work closely with the imagery pipeline team to ensure the best quality data delivery from multiple constellations
Metadata standards guru - the successful candidate will ensure that the appropriate metadata is defined and delivered, is up to par or exceeds industry standard, and works across a variety of software platforms
API - the successful candidate will work closely with the API team to define the most efficient API delivery mechanisms to allow people to query, access, and analyze our data.
Partner closely with internal business and technical teams in the creation and compilation of proposals.
Support business development by providing engineering analyses, cost and schedule estimates, and proposal support.
Manage requirements and detailed roadmap of the end-to-end processing, formatting, and API delivery of Planet’s imagery
The Must Haves:
Expertise in satellite remote sensing science and technologies
Proficiency with software development, particularly using RESTful interfaces and Python
Experience working with imagery or with geographical information systems including Esri, ENVI, Erdas, PCI Geomatica, Socet, or other softwares
Education in a technical field, preferably aerospace engineering, remote sensing, or geomatics.
The Nice to Haves:
Familiarity with AWS or Google cloud infrastructure
Prior Product Management Experience
Familiar with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
