At Synthetic Genomics, Inc., we are dedicated to developing and commercializing genomic-driven solutions to address global challenges. We are currently seeking a Scientist to join our fast-growing, dynamic and collaborative team in La Jolla, CA.

We are seeking a Scientist to accelerate development and optimization of genome editing technologies for advantaged application in mammalian cells, as well as, implement novel genome engineering technologies for the development of therapeutic applications in xenotransplantation, autoimmunity and oncology.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and perform experiments to optimize performance of novel genome editing technologies in mammalian cells to meet specified metrics
Contribute to development of genome editing technology for therapeutic applications.
Contribute to SGI’s intellectual property portfolio both as an individual and as part of interdisciplinary teams.
Comply with Synthetic Genomics company policies including observance of US and California laws and regulations
Required Experience

Ph.D. in cell biology or molecular biology or related field and 2 or more years of postgraduate experience depending on level.
Demonstrated experience developing a gene editing technology for application in mammalian cells.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of mammalian cell biology
Demonstrated technical expertise in areas such as:
Mammalian cell culture and genetic modification of primary and transformed cells through the use of transient and stable transfection techniques
Molecular biology techniques such as DNA PCR and cloning, assembly, sequencing and analysis
Genome engineering tools, including CRISPR-cas9, for NHEJ- and homologous recombination-mediated changes
