Event Coordinator at Mapbox

At Mapbox we’re building the location data platform of the future. Our team is growing quickly and we’re looking for a skillful communicator and organizer to join our Field Marketing team as an Event Coordinator helping to craft successful, impactful, and memorable event experiences.

Here at Mapbox, we attend and host a wide variety of events. We hit up industry events to pitch Mapbox products and tools (and sometimes throw a killer party). We help organize OpenStreetMap’s major gatherings, including worldwide State of the Map events. We host community events in our offices, including hackathons with Women Who Code, and developer meetups. And in 2018, we’ll be hosting our first-ever Mapbox User Conference.

As an Event Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for supporting teammates around the world in executing their vision and goals for an event. These events very widely in scale and audience, but they are all designed to connect Mapbox with people who will use our tools to create beautiful products, support the organizations around us, and build communities.


Coordinate partner marketing - ensure we are getting the most out of our event involvement by working with event organizers to lock-in event details and logistics.
Manage external vendors - from procurement to ordering and onsite setup, make sure our team and event attendees have what they need at our events.
Write and edit copy - develop event material (print, web, etc); including event listings, promotional materials, landing pages, and email invitations to drive attendance and awareness of our events.
Provide data-driven insights - conduct research and contribute to projects to develop event strategies and identify efficiencies for the Field Marketing team.
Provide onsite support - assist with onsite execution of events, as necessary.
Qualities we’re looking for

Attention to detail. Throwing an amazing event is nailing the big and the small things. You plan ahead, own the timeline and make sure that come the day of an event, all the pieces are in place and the event is executed flawlessly.
A great communicator. Creating a great event requires clearly and artfully communicating with the team internally and to our external audience. You’ll participate in internal conversations on planning events, and you’ll also write blog posts and other communications speaking to external audiences.
An eye for design. Communication is not just words, its the look and feel of the event from the RSVP page to the material at the booth.
A passion for brand. You understand how events build brand and hit style. PhotoShop experience a plus.
A desire to learn and to teach. We’re a team and we excel and build together. You want to learn every day, and share your skills with others. There’s no need for you to be into geo, but you’ll need to fully absorb what we’re building to design and run great Mapbox events.
Be a problem-solver. No two days will ever be the same. You should anticipate issues that may arise and be able to trouble-shoot. Be comfortable with juggling priorities and changing direction quickly.
