Senior Public Relations Manager at Periscope

Our Marketing team’s mission is to develop the Periscope Data brand, build awareness, and drive interest in our product offerings. As a Senior PR Manager you will play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission in 2017 and beyond. Your primary responsibility will be developing and maintaining relationships with key trade publications with the goal of acquiring coverage via bylines, features, and interviews. You should be comfortable communicating with and pitching members of the media. Responsibilities for this role will also include building and executing strategies for targeted speaking opportunities, press releases and other key content activities, award submissions, and other related areas.


Periscope’s VP of Brand and Communications has a data-driven background leading successful advertising, demand, and marketing operations teams at Salesforce, Zendesk and most recently Slack. This is a great opportunity to join an experienced B2B marketing team as our very first dedicated PR hire.

Here’s what your first 90 days at Periscope Data will look like:


Within your first week...

Spend time with our marketing team, learn about our products, and get to know our target audience.
Dive in and immediately review and familiarize yourself with recent coverage and our external brand presence.
By Day 30...

You’ve built a strategy around press releases and you’ve already written and published at least one.
You’ve identified and reached out to trade publications we would like to build long term relationships with.
You’ve proposed and gotten alignment on the key metrics by which to evaluate the success of all planned PR programs.
Day 60...

You’ve secured 3 bylines, features, or interviews for Periscope Data in trade publications.
You’ve started giving Periscope Data’s spokespeople media training.
You’ve built a strategy for speaking opportunities and awards for the next 6-12 months.
Day 90...

You continue the drumbeat of coverage and are working with our agency on strategic messaging and positioning.
You have presented and gotten alignment on a quarterly PR plan.

You have 4+ years of experience in PR, either in-house or at an agency.
You’re comfortable communicating with members of the media, pitching ideas and stories.
You have excellent writing skills and enjoy writing.
You’re comfortable and well versed with all social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc..
You are data-driven and have experience tracking the performance of PR initiatives.
