Katerra’s Phoenix factory is looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer who contributes to the overall mechanical engineering and technology to building design and construction for manufacturing environments in compliance with applicable building codes. The mechanical engineer II assists in the analysis and development mechanical design, drain, waste, vent, water supply/distribution, heating/cooling, and ventilation for multi-family and commercial buildings, and provides technical support to cross functional teams for manufactured construction projects. Provides technical support for engineering. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform analysis, design, and documentation of building envelope systems including: mechanical and plumbing systems and specifications
Develop solutions to challenging building envelope issues with integrated architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing teams
Contribute to ensure designs are compliant with the companies’ principles of design for manufacturing, assembly, and systems integration.
Analyze, strategize, incorporate, and track design strategies
Perform factory inspections.
Assist in the preparation of reports, technical memorandums, recommendations, and cost estimates

Required Skills & Experience

0-5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer
Knowledge of basic construction systems.
Knowledge of basic building code concepts and specifications
Willingness to learn
Resourceful and team-oriented problem solving skills
Forward thinking with strong interpersonal skills are a must.
