We are looking for a Facilities Specialist to join our the Spaces & Employee Experience team in Washington, DC. The Facilities Specialist will manage our DC office, as well as the experience for our DC team.

We’re looking for someone with a fun, upbeat, collaborative, team-based approach to managing our DC office and supporting our US and international locations. This position will be a part of a global team comprised of experienced facilities, spaces, and employee experiences professionals who are constantly striving to build the best employee experience possible. You’ll be part of the larger People team and will create amazing work spaces that look and feel great, and run out the day-to-day and ever-changing needs of the office.

The role

Support Mapbox’s DC and non-US offices, reinforcing the culture we’re building and helping hit our expansion targets & budget goals. This includes space planning, physical security, and food/beverage management.
Be the point of contact for remote and international employees working in co-working spaces. Guide contract renewals for co-working spaces, and frequently communicate with remote employees to ensure co-working spaces meet current needs.
Ensure that our facility, furniture, and communications equipment are well maintained and fully functional.
Ensure that the office spaces are productive, clean, and organized.
Manage the coordination of building space allocation, including working with our IT team and directly supporting office move/expansion.
Negotiate contracts for goods and services to optimize cost saving.
Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met.
Partner with leaders across our organization to plan and execute company-wide events.
Perform post-mortem audits to document lessons learned and recommend improvements to our processes and spaces.
Work with various vendors such as janitorial, caterers, etc. to ensure each facility has everything it needs to be fully operational.
On occasion, travel to our other Mapbox office locations.
What you bring

Experience running a professional workspace: you’ve spent 2 years working in a high-growth environment.
High organization and project management skills. You have experience:
Managing projects, facility budgets, negotiating contracts
Working with vendors and management agencies
Building and scaling processes needed to run an office
Friendly, empathetic, and approachable demeanor.
Unwavering positivity and eagerness to get the job done. There is no detail too small to warrant your attention and you bring a positive attitude towards growing a team, ordering team lunch or brewing a pot of coffee.
Diplomacy, flexibility, and dependability. You’ll be building relationships with individuals across all levels at Mapbox.
Proven and effective communication skills. You are a team player.
Hospitality mindset and customer-service oriented.
