Mapbox is looking for Android developers to help create the future of our Android SDKs and to shape to the future of mobile mapping. Mapbox’s mobile map and navigation SDKs bring together a wide range of technologies to power real-world applications on millions of devices around the world. We’re looking for candidates who are interested in growing into a role that not only implements high-priority features but also triages bug fixes, works with our sales team, assists priority customers directly, and interacts with the Android community through blog posts, conferences, and more.

We have openings for this role in our offices in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. We work closely with every team at Mapbox and quickly see our work impact Mapbox’s offerings across all platforms.

Qualities we’re looking for

Creativity and discipline. Experience coding in Java and/or C++. Espresso, Retrofit, and Material Design are all well known to you, and you think nougat is delicious. You recognize the time scale involved in mobile development and deployment, in maintaining APIs, and engaging communities around code.
A passion for open source. Mapbox has nearly 550 public repositories on GitHub and contributes to openness in mobile platforms.
A love of mobile. You get excited by the future of mobile and how it’s defining the new tech ecosystem. You are especially excited by the future of a Android and you want to be part of building the mobile experience for the next billion users.
Most importantly, a desire both to learn and to teach. You’re open-minded. You explore new languages, skills, techniques, and platforms. We learn new things every day and are excited to share our knowledge with each other.
