Revenue Manager at Mapbox

We’re looking for trusted hands to manage the accounting for, and recognition of, our revenues. We want someone who is both excited to dig into the details on a sales contract and can teach our teams about the principles of revenue recognition and impact on our business. This person will work closely with the sales team as well as the finance team to track revenues by customer and contract. The Revenue Manager will work closely with both the VP of sales and VP of finance to make sure sales compensation and fulfillment costs are captured and recognized correctly.

Mapbox has big ambitions. We power the maps for sites and applications like The Weather Channel, Pinterest, and CNN, and we’re rapidly expanding our customer base. Our platform enables drone companies to publish imagery, real estate sites to visualize properties, satellite companies to deliver cloud-free imagery, and insurance companies to analyze assets. We want to be a leader in all of these markets by making the building blocks that change how people move around cities, understand our planet, and relate to location.

The role

Own the process for accurate and timely invoicing of our customers for all products and revenue streams.
Work with the sales team to ensure sales and revenue policies are followed and compliant with US GAAP requirements, including ASC 605 and 606 as well as accurate deferred revenue tracking and reporting.
Lead the timely close of all revenue, including the monthly revenue close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Maintain revenue, bookings, and sales commission processes for accurate sales compensation payments.
Review contracts for revenue recognition implications.
Prepare accounting memos to document the company’s position on technical accounting issues.
Assist in all aspects of preparing and reviewing work papers and performing variance analyses.
Support the sales team by advising on complex and critical proposals related to revenue recognition.
Maintain standardization of pricing, discounting, and sales/renewal processes.
Strong attention to detail.
What we’re looking for

3-5 years of experience in a complex accounting environment.
SaaS revenue experience is a plus.
Excellent written communication skills.
Strong team and communication skills; ability to work across all levels of Mapbox.
Pluses, but not required

Experience with subscription/recurring revenue models.
