Technician II, Electromechanical at Synthetic Genomics

At Synthetic Genomics, Inc., we are dedicated to developing and commercializing genomic-driven solutions to address global challenges. We are currently seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician II to join our fast-growing, dynamic and collaborative team in La Jolla, CA.

The successful candidate will provide testing and assembly support for manufacturing and production of SGI’s instrumentation for DNA processing. Act as support for product testing following established procedures and protocols.
Requirements
Responsibilities:

Completes sub-assemblies, final assembly and system testing on DNA instrumentation.
Builds and debugs computer systems for products.
Debugs and repairs components of products including motors, encoders, potentiometers and motion control systems.
Performs shipping, receiving and inventory control tasks as required.
Supports troubleshooting and repair of production systems including interfacing with outside suppliers and contractors.
May support production activities in other areas when necessary.
Required Experience:

Associates degree in electronics, computer science or the equivalent education and experience.
Requires at least 4 years of experience in a related environment.
Must have a solid working knowledge of working within a GMP style manufacturing organization.
Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures required.
Hands-on experience with various hand and power tools also required.
Electro-mechanical experience including motors, sensors, switches and precise thermal control systems is mandatory.
Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate processes and findings clearly as well as the desire to work in a team environment.
Preferred Experience:

Technical training in mechanical engineering is desirable.
Solid problem solving skills preferred.
Working knowledge of manufacturing related computer software such as MRP systems preferred.
