SGI-DNA, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Synthetic Genomics, Inc. (SGI). The company was founded in 2013 and headquartered in La Jolla, CA. We provide a variety of synthetic DNA services to select business customers with demands for large and/or complex DNA constructs, including combinatorial libraries.

Preferably based in the San Francisco area, the role of the Business Development Manager is to ensure sales objectives are met within the designated territory. You are expected to develop and execute sales plans and forecast sales for the SGI-DNA portfolio of products including services, reagents, software, and instruments as well as predict order inflow for the territory and provide market and competitor activities from the field. You are expected to do instrument demonstrations at customer sites.
Required Skills:

Development of appropriate territory and account-specific sales plan for each of the product lines in the portfolio
Demonstrate, install and gain customer acceptance SGI BioXp system at customer sites
Execute plan to meet assigned sales quotas
Provide regular updates on progress towards meeting assigned quotas
Utilization and maintenance of CRM database
Deliver technical/scientific seminars and presentations describing product portfolio
Cross-functional partnerships to address the needs of customer base
Successfully manage a complex sales process for both capital equipment, consumables, services, and software
Accurately manage sales pipeline activities
Customer lead and prospect generation
Manage existing and continuously work to expand customer base
Nurture customer relationships and maintain strong customer connections
Work Remotely, out of a Home office, >50% travel required
Required Experience:

Life Science Degree is required with graduate degree preferred
3+ yrs or equivalent commercial experience
Experience selling complex pieces of capital equipment a must
Experience selling web based software as a service desired
Strong knowledge base of molecular biology methods including PCR
Experience in cloning and Gibson assembly a plus
Experience working with distributors
Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting
Highly adaptable and independent
Strong desire to win business and establish long-term customer relationships
